Lets make cookies!

By now we are all in a festive mood, so lets make cookies! This is easy and fun if your are doing it by youself or with you friends/family. I must admit, the part I like most in decorating the cookies. My talent for painting does not exist (unfortunately), so they come out like a little child painted them, but I guess that makes it even more fun.

Here is a basic recipe that you can costumsize it by adding spices and such (for 450g of dough):
  • 120g butter
  • 50g icing sugar
  • 45g ground roasted almonds
  • 180g flour
  • A few drops of vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
How to:
1. With a mixer work the butter to homogenize.
2. Add icing sugar, almonds, salt, vanilla, egg and flour and inbetween mix the ingredients so they incorporate (but don’t overwork them).
3. That will form a dough. Wrap it in a plastic foil and let is chill in the frige for 2 hours.
4. After the dough is cooled, roll it out however thick you want your cookies to be.
5. Take some festive cookie cutter and let the fun begin! Put shaped cookies on to the baking tray covered with baking paper.
6. When the tray if full, put it in a freezer for about 15-20 minutes.
7. Preheat oven to 170°C and bake for 10-20 minutes, depending on the thickness and size. When you reach golden-brown color, take them out and let them cool down.
8. I decorated them the easiest way, with chocolate. To do that, melt the chocolate bain marie (in a bowl over steam), put it in a pastry bag and start drawing. Add whatever decorations you want or maybe make royal icing, which also looks super pretty – you can watch how to make it here. Just have fun guys!
