Clean slate: Cookbook filled with delicious and healthy recipes

Today I have a bit different book review for you. I came across this book while watching Shira Bocar cook on YT channel Everyday food. Everything she makes looks so delicious, filling and it’s also healthy. I really want to make that kind of food for myself, but back then I knew too little about the whole spectrum of food out there. This book is a guide and a cookbook, so it gave me a lot more insight + interesting recipes to try.

Best way to describe it is with it’s own description in the book:
“It’s time to hit the reset button and gain a more healthful – and pleasurable – approach to food. This book emphasizes eating clean, whole, unprocessed foods as part of a primarily plant-based diet, with delicious and healthy recipes that make it easy to do just that. Clean slate is packed with so much information, but it isn’t narrow-minded. It doesn’t state that their way is the only good way and it gives you alternatives. And the photos, oh my, if that doesn’t make you hungry I don’t know what will!
I love the way the nutrients are described and categorized and the fact that it gives a 3-day or 21-day cleanse/detox plan, if you don’t want to think too much about your diet and just want to follow some guidelines. It describes more then 160 recipes that are divided in 6 categories:
  • Replenish: Get off to a good start
  • Reboot: Drink to your health
  • Recharge: Load up on vegetables
  • Reenergize: Choose your snacks wisely
  • Restore: Make meals with substance
  • Relax: Have a little something sweet

Under each recipe it states how much calories, fat, cholesterol, carbohydrates, protein and fiber the dish contains. It also states if it's vegan/dairy-free/nut-free/gluten-free – you can find this on the index page too. So if you are intolerant of sensitive to something you can easily locate recipes that will be good for you.

Being healthy is the most important thing ever. We have to take care of ourselves and eating well is one way. With this kind of cooking we can eat food that is good for us + is really tasty. Don’t worry, there also has some pretty awesome desserts in it!
